Dr. Michael Effing and the AZL Team are looking forward to the Annual Partner Meeting 2019 which is taking place on 4th and 5th of June. For the 6th time already all AZL members will come together with about 120 representatives to exchange information on latest market developments and technologies. The AZL team will provide a focused insight to define future activities, review projects and workgroups of the previous year and discuss composite trends. The two-day meeting will include different campus tours: a lightweight tour and a center tour - to provide new insights for our partner companies. At the AZL Open Day 2019 AZL´s 9 Partner Institutes opened the doors of their machinery halls and research labs to provide an extensive and on-site insight into the research and development capacities in the field of lightweight production and composites at the RWTH Aachen Campus. As a special highlight of this year, digitized process chain as well as a prototype for highly productive processing of thermoplastic tapes were presented in the AZL machinery hall. AZL´s new UItra-Fast Consolidator Machine offers both high flexibility and mass production of tailored thermoplastic laminates with reduced scrap. Fully consolidated multi-layer laminates with different fiber directions and minimized scrap (tailored blanks) can be produced in cycle times below 5 seconds with this new scalable machine setup.
